I started Drama Club because I wanted to create a drama programme that was not only fun but also taught children the fundamentals of speaking on stage while helping them build confidence.
There are so many ways to communicate on stage—through poetry, prose, monologues, plays, public speaking, and impromptu speaking. I believe in offering a variety of these topics because every child connects differently with them. Some thrive in the competition of debating, loving the challenge of commanding the stage with their rebuttal. Others enjoy becoming a character, feeling transported into someone else’s shoes.
By offering these diverse topics, students can discover a style that resonates with their personality, which in turn boosts their confidence when they perform.
Each day, I see results from the classes—and parents see them too. Here’s some feedback from families who’ve experienced the impact:
“Congratulations on the production and on how well you prepared the children for their exams – you have a real gift for what you do. Lucy’s father and I have very much enjoyed seeing her improving and growing in confidence as the year has progressed.”
“Really enjoyed the performance and I could tell the children were enjoying themselves too. I liked the idea that the main roles were shared so that everyone had an equal shot at stardom. Maia is very lucky to have someone teaching with such dedication.”
I am so grateful to have the ongoing support of the students I’ve worked with over the past 9–12 years. Many of my former students now work alongside me in our after-school drama classes, passing on the life-changing experiences they had at Drama Club. Their journeys have come full circle, and they are excited to inspire younger students just as they were once inspired.
We are passionate about working with children and are committed to supporting your child’s growth and success.
